Johnson “reiterated that Great Britain would retain and strengthen economic pressure on Putin's regime,”, a Downing Street spokesman has said.
In a Twitter post today, Zelensky also wrote that both countries “discussed strengthening sanctions against Russia”.
Zelensky has also announced Johnson's humanitarian situation in the besieged city of Marioupolis, where fierce fighting continues.
The prime minister offered his full support to Ukraine in the face of Russia's continued aggression, including humanitarian support and more defence equipment”, Downing Street has said.
Finally, as the last round of talks between Russia and Ukraine begins in Istanbul on Tuesday, the Ukrainian leader also briefed his British counterpart on the talks, according to Downing Street.
By contrast, Great Britain has imposed a series of sanctions on Russia, targeting individuals and companies.
