“I thanked Chancellor Nehammer for Austria's continued support and assistance given before and during the war in Kosovo. Austria was a ray of hope for us during the occupation and apartheid”, Kurti wrote.
The first “opened the doors to Kosovo Albanian students and students, who were denied the right to study in legitimate educational facilities. It was also among the first states to recognise independence, and since then Austria's investments in Kosovo total 287m euros”, Kurti indicated through a Facebook post.
The first of the Government said yesterday's visit and friendly meetings reconfirmed traditionally good relations between the two countries.
“Two peoples, with old culture and with historical commons, developed relations over the centuries and would further develop thanks to common interests”, the prime minister said, broadcast Klakosova.tv.
The Austrian capital was the centre where many art figures and sciences that were of Albanian origin or others dealing with Albanian history, culture and language were traced. The scholars and intellectuals who acted shaped the aspirations of the two peoples as: Johann Georg von Hahn, consul of Austria in Janina in 1847, founder of Albanology; Carl Patsch, Illyrian and founder of Albania's National Museum; Maximilian Lambertz, a researcher with a large contribution to Albanian albanology and folklore; well-known Albanologists Hermann ROlberg, Gustav Mayer and Norbert Jokl. Albania's great language, Eqrem Cabej, was a student of Norbert Jokles. Gjergj Pekmez founded the Albanian-language Cathedral at Vienna University, which bears his name. He and our writer, Hille Mosi, were the founders of the “Dija”, Austria, in 1904”.
Kurti recalled that in Vienna, exactly in the Museum of Art History, the original weapons of our national hero, Gjergj Kastriot, Skenderbeu are stored.
“Austrian members of Albanian origin, renowned architect Carl Gega and extraordinary theatre actor Alexander Moisiu are our common values with which the civilized world” boasts.
“The interest and support of Austrian personalities and diplomats for Albanians and their efforts and wars for liberation and statehood never stopped”.
“Human rights activist Christine von Cohl, journalist, writer and Balkan expert who operated in Vienna was the unwarranted supporter of Albanians' right
Kosovo for freedom and democracy. It is particularly remembered for its articles and books on the breakup of Yugoslavia in the 1990s”.
“The Albanians will respectfully remember the contribution and support of Austrian friends Franz Vranitzky, former Austrian Chancellor Alois Mock, former deputy cadancer, Albert Rohan, the former mediator in the Kosovo talks and former deputy Chancellor Erhard Busek, who died a few days ago. I expressed my most sincere condolences to Chancellor Nehammer” yesterday, Kurti concluded.
