In a tweet, after meeting with the European Union's special emissary for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, the German deputy has said the Western Balkans belong to the European Union.

The states of the Western Balkans belong to us and deserve more than words. The EU must keep its promises: Starting with accession talks with Albania and Northern Macedonia, visa liberalisation for Kosovo”, he has said.

Roth had served in the post of state minister for Europe in 2014-2021, under Angela Merkel.

Lajcak has recently published several photos of meetings with German officials in Berlin. He has said Germany has given support to its work and that there have been discussions on how EU integration in the Western Balkans should advance. We have agreed that this is more important than whenever in today's geopolitical context”, he said.
