That comment came after the United States has refused Poland's offer to transfer its Russian-made aircraft, MiG-29, to the American base in Germany.
“We have offered all sorts of defense materials... we have sent weapons, which we have told them about, but it is also true that we have carefully examined what we are going to do, and definitely warplanes are not part of this”, Scholz said during a news conference Wednesday, along with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Scholz was also asked if Germany flatly refuses to ban Russian energy imports and said that for several months it is working to reduce its dependence on fuel imports.
Otherwise, the U.S. has rejected Poland's offer to transfer MiG-29 warplanes to an American base in Germany, as a way to strengthen Ukraine's air force as this country faces Russian invasion.
The U.S. aims to increase weapons shipments to Ukraine, but the idea of sending fighter planes from the territory NATO in a war zone, “gress serious concerns for the entire NATO coalition”, the Pentagon said.
