Foreign Affairs Minister Donika Grovalla is very preoccupied with the fact that the European Union is not giving its green light to Ukraine, Periscopi broadcasts.
She in an interview for News Week has wished heartily to consider Kiev's EU accession bid.
Good status, however, we should remember that in a year of governance, no single recognition was brought by the Kurti Government so far, nor was anything done towards Kosovo's EU membership.
Here's the MPJD's announcement:
Kosovo Foreign Affairs Minister Donika Gervalla-Schwarz did not support Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte's warning that Ukraine's quick membership in the European Union would create frustration and instability in the Western Balkans.
Gervalla-Schharz for Nesseek said Pristina “with a complete heart” supports Kiev's demand that their EU membership be accelerated as we enter the second month of fierce fighting between Russian invaders and Ukrainian defenders.
Rutte warned last week that a acceleration of the process for Ukraine could undermine stability in the Western Balkans. “There are places that also want [accession],” said Rutte.
“Enderation in the EU is the process. There's no fast accession procedure. If we were to do that, we would transform the accession process into political process and that should not happen. ”
But Gervala- Schharz said Kosovo known by Brussels as the potential candidate country for EU membership believes the bloc should adopt a new fast process and extend it not only to Ukraine, but to all Balkan countries that are committed to European integration.
The current situation is very complex and dangerous,” she said. “This applies not only to the situation in Eastern Europe and Ukraine but also to the deteriorating situation in the Balkans.
“Therefore, we are attempting to accelerate not only for Ukraine but also for Kosovo and other Balkan countries, who are truly committed to EU principles.
“We do not do this just for our personal interest, but also for the EU's own interest: it is about preserving peace within EU geography. ”
Gervalla-Schharz said Kosovo “is constantly repeating that the EU could never be all without the Western Balkans” and “convinced that the EU should be open to all European countries that are truly committed to EU values as democracy and rule of law”.
For us, the EU is not primarily an economic bloc, but is the best European response to peace security. And Ukraine is certainly part of Europe and deserves to be a future member of the European Union,” she said.
Early warning for EU and NATO
Gervalla-Schharz told Nesseek earlier this month that the EU and its NATO allies, including the US, should pay more attention to political tensions in the Western Balkans.
Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the others have warned that Russia could open a second front against its Western opponents in the region, possibly fascinated by its Serbian partners.
In the case of Kosovo, it is certainly of great interest to the EU to ensure peace before the conflict begins,” said Gervalla-Schharz.
“With Ukraine, the EU made mistakes and did not take appropriate steps before war broke out so as to support Ukraine sufficiently in its prevention.
The great blip encouraged the potential aggressor to become a real aggressor. This mistake should not be made twice. As Ukraine, Poland, and our partners in the Baltic region did, we too are engaged in early warning. ”
Kosovo's Foreign Affairs Minister urged the EU and national governments “to recalibrate to avoid future conflict”.
They have to do something they don't like to do: first they have to listen and then talk. They should be coordinated, with Ukraine and with us,” she said.
