The decision to review the applications, taken by EU ambassadors, should be signed by the European Council, but this is being described as a procedural formalisation.
Permanent representatives of member states discussed accepted applications during the past week. While at a current meeting, they agreed to invite the Commission to present an opinion on each, writes the BBC, broadcast Klonkosova.tv.
However, it may take some time for an opinion from the Commission to take up to 18 months to prepare. And if successful, the process of joining the EU usually lasts for years.
