According to the BiH presidency, Western ambassadors thanked Bosnia and Herzegovina for joining the UN General Assembly resolution condemning Russia's aggression against Ukraine, the draft resolution to the UN Security Council and EU positions and measures on the issue.
“They urged BiH to continue with the same policy that led it to the right side of history and that the competent BiH institutions implement restrictive measures against institutions and other subjects of the Russian Federation envisioned in the EU acts for which BiH joined”, the statement said.
Xhaferovic confirmed that he personally strongly condemns Russia's aggression against Ukraine and supports all restrictive measures taken and announced he would ask the BiH Council of Ministers to strictly adhere to and implement all measures taken by the European Union.
BiH backed a UN resolution condemning Russian aggression, as well as EU statements and positions, but Serb presidency member Milorad Dodik announced he would block any attempts to impose any sanctions on Russia or its citizens in BiH.
Because of the Serbian ministers' opposition, no decision was taken for BiH to back a resolution at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (BERZH), which was supposed to deny access to its funds for Russia and Belarus, though EU ambassadors sought by the finance minister for a particular indictment.
