He claimed they needed no permission to do so.
Ergodan stressed that just as they have immediately taken steps to recognise Kosovo as a state, they will also act on the occasion of Kosovo's NATO membership application.
“We as Important Country NATO does not see anything going on here to support the Kosovo process. We do not need to get permission from anyone to support Kosovo's NATO membership. As we have received the mandate for recognising Kosovo, we will also take steps to support Kosovo's membership in NATO”, he said at a joint conference with Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani.
Erdogan's statement came after the country's president, Vjosa Osmani, asked him for support for Kosovo's NATO membership.
Osmani said that Kosovo must join NATO, where Turkey has a major role and has thanked Erdogan for its support.
“Under NATO, Turkey can do much. Our connections are deep, and on this basis we will work, especially in the security field, as well as in many other areas where we still have full potential”.
