Albania's Human Rights Commissioner for the Ukraine Parliament, Lyudmila Denisova, said the fire near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant affected more than 10,000 hectares of forest.
More than 10,000 hectares of forest burn in the exclusion area near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. There have been 31 fires, leading to an increase in the level of radioactive air pollution”, Denisova said.
It called on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to send fire experts and equipment to Ukraine as soon as possible so that “prevents irreversible consequences not only for Ukraine, but for the whole world”.
