European Union top diplomat Josep Borrell has said Russian President Vladimir Putin could expand his military activity beyond Ukraine, in the direction of a NATO member state.
Borrell, in an interview for the Turkish edition of CNN, has declared that no one should give excuses to the Russian president to boost his invading ambitions.
“has serious concerns”, Borrell stressed.
We're working to achieve a difficult balance. On one side we're trying to support Ukraine and the other side to stop a larger war. Nobody should give Putin reason because he can expand his military activity. It may be in the direction of a NATO state or any other state”, Borrell has said.
Borrell has stressed that Putin will try to attack, but the West, he said, should limit his attacks.
“We must isolate Russia from the international community, we must support Ukraine”, Borrell has said.
He has said Ukraine belongs in the Bay of the European family, saying the EU has responded positively to Kiev's aspirations for membership in the European Union.
“Yes, we have said Ukraine belongs to the European family. This is an obvious fact, geographically and historically. There are several procedures, but we've started this process”, he said.
