Biden's involvement comes at a time when top diplomats from Russia and Ukraine failed to make progress during Thursday's talks, clouding the likelihood of a quick solution to the invasion.
Turkish President Erdogan said on Wednesday that the meeting could open the door towards a permanent ceasefire. But the two sides were divided without a ceasefire agreement or for the free passage of Ukrainian civilians in war zones.
Relations between Turkey and the United States have been strained in recent years due to several issues, including the purchase of the Russian air defence system from Turkey. For this matter, Washington had imposed sanctions on Ankara in December 2020.
Beden and Erdogan had met at the G20 meeting in Rome in the month of October, when the American president had warned his Turkish homolgun that they should better manage their relations.
