This year the Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV) has eliminated about 40 tonnes of meat. In one case about 38 tonnes of meat has been eliminated, the spokesman for this institution, Lamir Thaci, has confirmed.
He has clarified that this action has been made possible thanks to co-ordinated checks with the State Police and Prosecutor.
He has added that the inspector has immediately ruled for seizures and extermination of all the amount found.
“Based on the laws in force, the inspector has immediately issued a verdict on seizures and extermination of all the amount found in this cooling depot and other organs have probably arrested responsible persons and the court's pre-confrontation will be submitted, and then the court is the one who decides to punish the business operator”, Thaci said.
He has warned measures against those who do not respect law and regulations in power, but other shares aimed at protecting consumers,
This first year the case that was presented was in the Pec region, but it doesn't mean there will be no cases in other countries. We can't prejudge that only one region has problems, but wherever those inspectors are facing they're going to be uncompetitive to any case that has the grounds of suspicion that some food product is being placed on the market that doesn't meet the conditions. We're bound, we have a legal mandate and we're called to carry out our official duties, and we're going to do this to protect consumers”.
“... they need to feel secure because they're seeing our work every day, field activities that we work on, but as the food control field is a complex area we require cooperation from all consumers, businesses that can contribute because public health is national interest and we all have to work together to maintain public health”, the AUV spokesman has concluded.
