The official added that Russian forces have made no progress, moving towards Kiev and are 15 to 20 kilometers from the city centre to the north and northwest and 55 km outside the city, east.
He also said it remains unclear why Russian forces are now giving priority to operations in the eastern region of Donbas, reports the BBC, broadcast Klankosova.tv,
“The strategy may be an attempt to gain influence in negotiations, or that the Russians are reevaluating their goals”, he said.
The official also said the attacked town of Marioupolis is being hit by long-range Russian fire.
