The United States is expected to provide at least 15 billion cubic metres of liquid natural gas by the end of the year, Reuters news agency reported.
European nations are trying to reduce dependence on Russian oil and gas, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The European Union has pledged to halt Russian gas use for two-thirds this year.
Speaking Thursday evening, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Cruo has welcomed this decision, saying it would help lower gas prices in Europe.
