The site for checking interest in the scheme fell short because of users offering homes. By 9am Tuesday, 88,712 had joined the scheme. Foreign Ministry Minister James Cleverly said that “110,000 people every hour” are enrolled, the Express forwards.
A spokesman said that the Homes website for Ukraine “ngeci temporarily” after being released late Monday afternoon, due to the large “buary of the British people”. He said the total number of offers was continuing to increase, with offers doubled within hours.
Almost 3 million people have left Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian occupation, with more displaced inside the country after cities have been bombed.
By Monday, only Ukrainians with family ties with the UK could apply for visas that would give them access to work and benefits.
But now every Ukrainian can go to Britain to live for at least six months.
Under the scheme, refugees will be allowed to live and work in the UK for up to three years and receive full and unlimited access to benefits, health care, employment and other support.
