The EMSC points out that the epicentra was at a depth of 40km and 10km from Esmeraldas with a population of 165,000.
The Witnesses say that the swing lasted between 15 and 30 seconds and that their furniture trembled. Some write that their building is being shaken, followed by Express.
Videos and photos on social networks show partially destroyed buildings and hospital injuries after the earthquake.
A video shows buildings and a trembling car, and dogs running in the streets in panic.
So far no injuries are reported.
