48 policemen and two customs officers who were arrested on Monday at the “Qrushe” border points and “Marine” allegedly involved in over 400 criminal activities of the “bribery and misuse of the official task”.
Investigations against them, as reported at the extraordinary media conference, were launched a year earlier against 68 people.
Yesterday's event, State Chief Prosecutor Alexander Lumezi called great success of law enforcement institutions, adding that the fight against crime and corruption is in the country's agenda.

Today, we still have challenges, but we have the iron will to make the country viable for citizens. I welcome the joint institution action to fight organised crime and corruption! The support of our government on such occasions is inevitable!

Over 400 criminal activity by 48 suspected police officers
The chief executive of the Kosovo Police Inspectorate, Objection Hodaj yesterday, said the suspects were involved in over 400 criminal activities.
“Based on these successful investigative actions, IPK under operation “Pika”, has arrested 48 police officials today. Including two police lieutenants, five sergeants as well as two customs officials. All suspected of criminal acts for “misusing official duty and taking bribes”. From the realisation of investigative actions by IPK investigators, there is a suspicion that those arrested in this case have been involved hundreds of times, or over 400 criminal activities, of taking bribes and misuse of official office. Those arrested with the prosecutor's decision have been assigned a 48-hour ban, and the same have been granted a recommendation for suspension of work duties as part of administrative procedures”, Hodaj has declared.
