Only 35 of those killed after Russian missiles hit military base in Ukraine

Russian missile waves hit a military training base near Ukraine's western border with NATO member Poland, killing 35 people. More than 30 Russian missiles targeted the major training facility, which is less than 25km from the nearest border point with Poland, according to the governor of Ukraine's western region Lviv. Poland is a key country for sending Western military aid to Ukraine.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine, Lviv had been spared mainly from the scale of destruction that was expanding farther east and became a destination for residents who escaped from the bombed cities and for many of the some 2.6 million refugees who fled the country.
The Yavoriv training centre appears to be the most Western target hit so far in the 18-day invasion. The facility, also known as the International Peacekeeping and Security Centre, has long been used to train Ukrainian military personnel, often with instructors from the United States and other NATO countries.
It has also hosted international NATO exercises. As such, the page symbolizes what has long been a Russian complaint: That the NATO alliance of 30 member states is getting closer to Russia's borders. Russia has demanded that Ukraine lift its ambitions to join NATO.
Lviv Governor Maksym Kosytsky said most of the missiles released Sunday “collapsed because the air defence system functioned”. Those who went through killed at least 35 people and injured 134, he said.
