Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has held a press conference this morning, saying his country will triumph over Russian forces, The Guardian reports.

As Periscope broadcasts, he said government forces still control Kiev and key points around the city. He pointed out that Ukrainian forces would win, criticising the circulated disinformations.

Please stop those who lie, or try to lie to you, or lie to us. We have to stop this war. We can live in peace together, globally as humans. Our army, our national guard, our national police, our territory protection, special service, Ukrainian citizens, please continue. We'll win. Glory to Ukraine.”, he said.

Zelenskiy said: “We are successfully curbing enemy attacks. We know that we are protecting our land and the future of our children. Kiev and major areas are controlled by our army.

“Occupants wanted to set up their doll in our capital. They did not succeed. On our streets, there was a good fight”.

He said that after discussions with EU leaders in recent days, including Russia's closure from the Swift payment system, he believed Ukraine should become part of the EU and its citizens should have the same rights.

The Ukrainian people deserve to become an EU member. And that would be a signal of your support for Ukraine. This discussion must be closed. We discussed this with European leaders today. All the equipment and military defence aid are coming to Ukraine and is working on Russia's secession from Swift. I hope Hungary will be forced to support this decision”. / P ERISCOPI/
