The US news agency Associated Press reports that the Ukrainian President's office Volodymyr Zelenksy has confirmed that a delegation will meet with Russian officials as Russian President Vladimir Putin troops approach Kiev.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's office said on the Telegram message application that the two sides will meet at an indefinite location on the Ukraine-bliorus border and did not give a precise time for the meeting.
The announcement came hours after Russia announced that its delegation had flown to Belarus to organise a meeting for talks with Ukraine.
The order implies that Putin wants Russia's nuclear weapons to be prepared for increased readiness to be launched and poses the threat that the invasion of Ukraine by Moscow and the West's response to it could be filled with nuclear war.
Putin, in providing the nuclear alert directive, cited not only the alleged statements of NATO members, but the heavy financial sanctions imposed by the West against Russia, including the Russian leader himself.
