Speaking to the media at the Munich Security Conference, Vice President Harris urged all to stop for “a moment to understand the importance of what we're talking about”, regarding the Russian troops gathered near the Ukrainian border.

Over 70 years have passed and over 70 years, as I mentioned yesterday, there was peace and security. We are talking about the real possibility of war in Europe”, she said.

Mrs. Harris reaffirmed that a diplomatic solution was still the preferred solution to the issue of the possible invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

Western leaders warn that Russia is ready to attack neighbouring Ukraine, which is surrounded by about 150,000 soldiers, fighter aircraft and Russian military equipment.

Russia held nuclear exercises Saturday in nearby Belarus and is continuing sea exercises on the Black Sea coast.

The United States and many European countries have been claiming for months that Russia is trying to create excuses to invade Ukraine and are threatened with massive and immediate sanctions if that happens.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to choose a place to meet and discuss resolving the crisis.
