The Swiss government said it would ensure that the country is not used to overcome the sanctions the European Union imposed on Russia.
“Switzerland will not be used as a platform to bypass EU-set sanctions. He will therefore review the sanctions and then make a decision. Swiss authorities are in constant contact with several countries to exchange information on the current situation”, the government said in a statement, writes CNN.
In addition, this statement says that Switzerland can adopt mandatory measures to enforce sanctions adopted by the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe or the country's main trade partners in order to ensure compliance with international law, particularly respect for human rights.
