His friend Della Ross for an Australian television commented: Everything related to the ocean was related to Simon. The news of his death shocked us like the impact of a truck because he was one of the people who made this world brighter”.
Of his students, the Nellist instructor was named a quiet, patient person who told his students to respect the ocean. He was practicing for a contest expected to take place Sunday, but after the tragic occasion, the race was analyzed.
He was reportedly engaged and was expected to soon marry his girlfriend, Jenny Ho.
