The UN Security Council in the early hours of today according to our local time has held an emergency meeting regarding the situation in Ukraine -- ironically -- the gathering has been led by Russia, which currently heads the council.
At this meeting, major world powers have discussed the situation created there after Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to recognise the independence of two self-declared republics on Ukraine's territory.
On this issue, the US ambassador to the United Nations has said Putin's actions have become “alone to create the pretext for a further invasion of Ukraine”.
On the other hand, China has asked the parties to discuss the reduction of tensions and deceses of the situation, while most states have withdrawn diplomatic staff and citizens from Ukraine.
The US has warned Russia about the <x0 most serious sanctions ever imposed” in the event Russia invades Ukraine.
