Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Olta Xhacka announced today the Albanian government's decision to join individual sanctions for freezing individual assets starting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The others are Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, members of the Russian Federation's National Security Council, who backed Russia's immediate recognition of two controlled non-governmental areas of Donjeck and Luhansk, as independent entities and members of the Russian State Duma, who ratified the government's decision of the Treaty of Friendship, Co-operation and Associateship between the Russian Federation and those two entities.

In total, these restrictive measures will apply to 654 individuals and 52 subjects. In addition, the ban on travel to Albanian territory for EU-listed persons has been imposed, while absorption of facilitating policies for the movement of diplomats, other Russian officials and business people” is under consideration. Khacka said that economic sanctions include restrictive measures in finance, energy, transport and technology.

“In the energy sector will be banned from sale, supply, transfer or export to Russia of specific goods and technologies for oil refining and will impose restrictions on providing relevant services.

In the transport sector, exports that cover goods and technology in the aviation and space industry will be banned, and there will be a ban on providing security services and maintenance and maintenance to those goods and technology. The delivery of relevant technical and financial assistance will also be prohibited.

Further restrictions will be placed on exports of dual-use goods and technology, as well as restrictions on exports of certain goods and technology that could contribute to Russia's technological improvement in its defence and security sector. This will include products such as the latest semi-sponsors or technologies.

Along with these measures, considering the unprecedented situation created, following the European-level intervention measures of the Republic of Albania will be closed by today's evening for all Russian air operators or any aircraft registered in Russia, except when such flights are carried out for emergency reasons, humanitarian or medical purposes or interstate needs.

Likewise, Albania will no longer participate in any sports confrontation with the Russian Federation until it ends the invasion of Ukraine. Finally, we're working on providing within our means of assistance to military and hospital materials, etc., for Ukraine”-Jaka said.
