The MP who had refused travel spending: I live in Pristina, I don't need to be paid

A list of Kosovo Assembly deputies who have received hundreds of euros from the state for travel spending has sparked numerous reactions. Spending this money, some of them have argued that “so is the preset by regulation”. But it is an MP who had refused to cover these expenses. [...]

Former Kosovo Democratic League President Blerim Grainca, in 2015, had refused to cover travel expenses.

In his statement of wealth, he had the address on Ferizaj. But since he says he did not know that on the basis of this statement, the payment of travel expenses would be made, he was addressed with a letter to the Secretary of the Kosovo Assembly.

Through this letter, he had informed that he lives in Pristina and that there is no need for such expenses to be covered.

“With the case of completing MP forms, I have put my address on Ferizaj, since I am born there and I am still officially a resident of Ferizaj and nominated for deputies from Ferizaj, not knowing that the Finance Office on the basis of this form will also make payment of travel expenses for MPs. In this case, I would like to inform you that I live in Pristina and that there is no need to be paid the expenses of the trip”, said the Grainca letter.

He had demanded that the value of money paid in the preceding months be lowered for that purpose.

I've been looking for you and the financial office since the following months every month, as much as they've been paid in the previous months to write this value down until the reimbursement, or equalise of this value”, was said in Grainca's letter to the Parliament.

Otherwise, the list of dozens of deputies who have been compensated for the expenses of derivatives has been published Thursday, due to trips from other cities to attend the Assembly sessions.

According to the report, for the November-December 2021 period, an MP has spent up to 870 euros on fuel.

For the announced trips by Podujevo, LDK's Agim Veliu for two months has received 340 Euros, and Valon Ramadani of Vetevendosje from Ferizaj 320 Euros.

For other relatively short distances, such as the Lipjan volcano, MPs have been compensated for coming to committee hearings.

Vetevendosje MP Adnan Rrustemi has received 290 euros in compensation for two mauis, while Besim Muzaqi from Vushtrria has received 170 euros.

Out of the same country, LDK deputy Rzazarta Krasniqi for the November-December period has received 150 euros, while her co-ordinator, MP Fjolla Ujani, has received 170 euros, and Gazmend Grandpaca has received 140 euros.

The former Police Director, now deputy from the PDK ranks, has received 90 euros for his trip from Lipjan.

Of the expenditures published by Kanal 10 it is seen that most have received MPs coming from Gjakova and Prizren, up to 870 euros for two months.

Below, find each fuel MP's expenses during this period.
