A considerable part of Ukrainian citizens who are not close to the front line still do not believe there may be a possible Russian attack, even though warnings from the west follow one another. They hope the Russia-Ukrainian crisis will end with talks and dialogue.
ABC journalist Linda Karadaku exclusively interviewed live from Lviv a Ukrainian couple, Jeroslav and Natalie. How do they view the situation, fear the Russian attack that has been warned to take place tonight in Ukraine by non-official sources, and what do they expect tomorrow?
Jeroslav hopes such an attack will never happen tonight. He wants a quiet life for his family, no tension and no combat attacks. Ukrainian citizen says positive to Russia, he says two people have lived in peace in the past 40 years and that he has nothing against the Russian people.
“I hope the attack does not just happen this night, but not a day, not a night. We have family here, we have our baby. There's no crisis for me. We've been doing well with them for 20 to 40 years. We are an independent country, we live in peace”, Jeroslav said.
Ukrainian citizen says people are leaving the country because of the propaganda being done by the news.
“We hear the news, the information that changes in the day, people leaving Donbas, but we're independent. This is propaganda, they're being told that the army will attack, but it's actually not like that, he said.
What you expect tomorrow
I expect a beautiful sunny day, as it is today and to be with my family”, Jeroslav said.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Army declared this morning that a soldier was killed in a series of bombings by pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine on Saturday morning and that escalation of violence this week raises concerns that Russia could take military action.
During the bombing, a Ukrainian soldier was fatally wounded by a shell fragment,” confirmed the military administration in eastern Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Army writes on its Facebook page that it recorded 19 violations of the separatist ceasefire agreement Saturday morning, compared to 66 cases in the previous 24 hours.
