Sejdiu, on the 14th anniversary of Kosovo's citizenship, states that the sacrifice of the Albanian people to make Kosovo not only independent, but also a stable and dignified country was permanent.
Writing to “Facebook” he said “Sovereignty and integrity are sacred and should be preserved as such”.
Sejdiu's full delivery:
Dear friends,
February 17th of 2008, it will remain eternally as the conclusion of Albania's people's unconventional efforts for freedom, independence and democracy.
There is no dilemma that it is the act that has been made most of all generations after generation.
The remarkable passage of our people on the road to February 17 has not been easy, nor easily affordable, but they were all crowned on February 17, 2008.
The sacrifices of the Albanian people to make Kosovo not only independent, but also a lasting and dignified country were permanent. They were conceived by each and each, and as such, we always find them in different circumstances and in different forms.
Freedom and independence were preconditions for individual and collective dignity. In that spirit, we isolate the special efforts made under peaceful resistance, which without any dilemma became the foundation of the modern State.
The peaceful efforts the chieftain made by President Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, who in all circumstances was insistent and consistent in the freedom, independence, democracy, which resulted in February 17th, 2008.
Keeping life under extraordinary circumstances was the only alternative to enabling life under normal circumstances. Highly important projects, which kept alive education, health, welfare and political functionality, which in addition to having a strategic role in preserving living and survival within borders, also enabled the realisation of more rational projects within societies, freedom and independence.
Peaceful efforts were added to the armed resistance under Adam Yasar, who sacrificed everything for freedom to self - giving.
Hence, today more than ever, we need to know how to preserve and develop what was not easy to achieve. Today, as never before, we must live up to the trust of all those generations who sacrificed themselves to make Kosovo an independent and sovereign state.
Sovereignty and integrity are sacred and should be preserved as such.
In our tradition, there has never been a culture of thank - you and respect of friends who found us in the most difficult days when not only was our freedom project being violated but our very being endangered.
With such a culture of thanks, with serious efforts to make the best of our state, and over and over again, it requires that we all make our Kosovo a place for all and all, with equal opportunities, economic development and a secure future in the European family today.
Only in that spirit will our whole project be realized and thus we must leave the inheritance to succeeding generations, for this was the will of those before us.
God bless the Republic of Kosovo!
God bless its citizens!
