He has said measures of devastating sanctions and other economic sanctions have been warned.

“this morning, I met with my G7 counterparts to discuss President Putin's unjustified attack on Ukraine, and we agreed to move forward with devastating sanctions and other economic measures to seek accounts from Russia. We stay with the courageous people of Ukraine”, he said.

In a joint statement following a virtual meeting Thursday, G7 leaders said Russian President Vladimir Putin had “resumed the war on the European continent”. From the G7, they said they are aiming to join NATO, the EU and member states, and that they will decide on the actions needed to maintain the integrity of international order, CNN reports.

“He has put himself on the wrong side of history”, writes leaders.

“We condemn President Putin for his continuing refusal to be involved in a diplomatic process to address issues involving European security, despite our repeated bids”, the statement said.

“We stay united with partners, including NATO, the EU and their member states, as well as Ukraine, and we remain determined to do what is necessary to maintain the integrity of international order based on rules. ”
