The US Defence Secretary has ordered the deployment of 7,000 American troops to Europe, a senior defence official told reporters shortly after President Joe Biden's conference.
Beden said he has authorised “the implementation of land and air troops that are currently stationed in Europe”, in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Romania. He also said he has authorised new military capacities to be sent to Germany, as part of NATO's response, including some forces pending weeks ago, CNN reports.
“They will land in Germany to secure NATO aletats, prevent Russian aggression and support the region's demands. We expect that they will leave in the following days”, the official said before reporters.
In his speech, Biden assured that American soldiers are not involved and will not be involved in the Russian conflict, Ukraine.
Our “Forces are not going to Europe to fight in Ukraine, but to protect our allies in NATO and to secure in our support our allies in the east”, Biden added. /Gazza Express
