NATO Secretary: There is danger of armed conflict in Europe

Stoltenberg, who met at Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis and other senior officials, said that “risks an armed conflict in Europe”.
“We have no certainty about what will happen. So we call on Russia to postpone the” situation, Stoltenberg told reporters.
“We are vigilant and prepared, and that is why the presence of NATO troops in Romania is so important”, he added.
Stoltenberg's visit to Romania is taking place on the same day that US Army convoys, with military equipment, came to this Romanian base. The United States is restoring 1,000 troops from Germany to Romania, as American officials fear that Russia will soon invade Ukraine. NATO troops have also been deployed in Poland.
Russia has collected over 100,000 troops along the border with Ukraine and has carried out a series of military maneuvers in the region. But Moscow says there is no plan to invade Ukraine. / REL
