Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday has warned of a well prepared and painful response to the United States after the Biden administration imposed sanctions on Moscow.

The statement says the sanctions are part of Washington's continued efforts to change Russia's trajectory and adds that the pressure will prove to be no setback, CNN writes.

“Russia has shown that, despite the costs of sanctions, it is able to minimize the damage, even to show that the pressure of sanctions is unable to affect our determination to protect our interests”, the report says.

The Russian ministry also confirmed that it is open to diplomacy, but warned that the United States will receive an answer from Russia.

We are open to diplomacy based on principles of mutual respect, equality and consideration towards each other's interests. There is no doubt that the sanctions will receive a strong response, not necessarily the same but good prepared and painful response to the American side”, said among other things in the Russian ministry's statement. /Periscopi
