The latest case occurred Thursday when journalist Heber Lopez was shot dead in his studio, police authorities report.

Lopez was an independent journalist who was leading the company "Nootiasweb" and became known that he has accepted life threats since 2019.

The city's general prosecutors, Oaxaca, said two persons have been arrested, however, the investigations are continuing.

According to local media, the journalist has been critical of politics and corruption in local governance, which may have led to his execution.

His death comes at a time when there were several cases of murders of Mexican journalists. Only in January to death were 3 journalists and 1 media employees shot, with the last case that occurred on Saturday when a former reporter was killed, writes the side, Periscope.
