Initially, international media, including Reuters and The Guardian, reported that in the midst of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Russian President Vladimir Putin had established contacts and were discussing the country and the time of peace talks and a possible ceasefire.
The Guardian now writes that Ukraine remains ready for dialogue with Russia.
“Ukraina was and remains ready to talk about a ceasefire and peace”, spokesman Sergii Nykyforov reportedly said.
“Now we see Moscow suggesting diplomacy develop into the barrel of a weapon, or when the missiles, mortars and artillery of Moscow target the Ukrainian people,” said US State Department spokesman Ned Price.
This is not real diplomacy. These are not the conditions for real diplomacy”, he added.
Earlier, The Guardian reported that Ukraine had agreed with the offer received by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
While now it says negotiations do not precede the use of missiles and mortars.
“We agreed with the Russian president's offer, and right now the parties are consulting the country and the development of the negotiations process”, said Ukraine's president's spokesman, Serhiy Nkyforov, The Guardian, before changing the news.
