Mayors seek to be paid as MPs, ministers

Mayors of municipalities should be paid as much as Kosovo Assembly deputies and ministers. This is the request of the Kosovo Communists Association that estimates that the co-communants should be assessed for their commitment. Also, there is a demand for a raise in the salary for asmblists. AKK Director Sahan Ibrahimi, in an interview for Kosova Prees, [...]
AKK director Saban Ibrahimi, in an interview for Kosova Prees, said the salary for Kosovo municipal leaders should be increased because they are available to citizens in 24 hours of the day.
Kosovo Communists' “Association estimates the wage bill does not treat mayors with dignity and underestimate them. We think that the mayors should be assessed with a cofficient equal to the Kosovo Republic MP or at the minister's level because they are extremely responsible, considering that they are elected directly by the citizen of the Republic of Kosovo. Considering that they are almost 24 hours responsible for developments at the local level, considering that every day they wait and listen and solve the problems of the citizens and that these dilemmas do not have them at the central level of”, Ibrahim followed.
And the members of the Communists, according to Ibrahim, should also be hired except to attend the sessions of the Communists.
“also members of the Municipal Framework in this bill are designed to have only pay and not pay for participation in the House Places hearings. Considering that they are also elected by the citizen of the Republic of Kosovo, we think that members of the Communist states should also have a responsibility for participating in the sessions of the Communist Assembly because they deserve it, because they and they represent the voice of the citizen, they also protect the interests of citizens, as Kosovo Republic MP” stressed.
The director of the Kosovo Commission Association says there will be a meeting with the mayors of the municipalities regarding the wage bill, where he says they will then seek meeting with the central level to seek amendments to the bill.
“We think that these two plains should change the coeffients which were envisioned with the bill in question and that the Association of Kosovo municipalities will have a joint meeting with all mayors. We are in touch with the mayors, we are confident that we will soon seek a meeting with the central level so that the cofficients who are seen in this bill will change. We don't want to underestimate anybody's work, we don't want to underestimate anyone's commitment, but we think that municipal heads should be treated differently in relation to what is being handled in this bill”, Ibrahim said.
Currently, a mayor is paid about 1,000 euros, while an adviser to the Municipal Assembly is paid about 200 euros.
