US President Joseph Biden has talked to French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on the crisis in Ukraine today.
As noted by the White House, the conversation was about Macron's last visit to Russia and Ukraine.
The two leaders also discussed current diplomatic efforts and preventive measures taken in close co-ordination with allies and partners, in response to the continuing establishment of Russian forces on the Ukrainian border”, according to the White House, the AFP reports.
Today's phone conversation was the second between Biden and Macron in a week.
Russia has collected more than 100,000 troops near the Ukrainian border, increasing fears between the US and allies that Moscow could plan to invade Ukraine. Although Moscow has denied that it intends to invade Ukraine, it has shown no sign of reducing its military stance.
The US is in the midst of deploying 1,700 troops in Poland to strengthen regional readiness for a Russian and US invasion, and its allies have pledged a series of economic sanctions if Russian troops cross Ukraine.
