State leaders congratulate Kosovo's independence, commemorate low freedom

Festivals for the 14th anniversary of Kosovo's independence begin with the ceremony of raising the flag in space between the Presidency, Parliament and Government in the capital. Following this ceremony, Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, Kosovo Parliament Speaker Glauk Konjufca and Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti congratulated all citizens on the 14th anniversary of independence, while [...]

Defence Minister Armend Mehaj and the commander of the Kosovo Security Force Bashari participated in the ceremony to raise the state flag.

Calling Kosovo's independence the most zenithic achievement of the Albanian people, Republic of Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani commemorated all those who contributed to Kosovo's freedom and independence.

Osmani said that Kosovo's freedom will be complete when justice will be imposed for all victims of war and when the last missing citizen returns.

Osmani called for unity to overcome challenges, while stressing that February 17th of 2008 has once and for all defined the fate of Kosovo as the independent and sovereign state.

Starting with the visionary and architect of the state of Kosovo, Ibrahim Rugova, who knew how to clarify the will of the citizens before the world and create friendships that we enjoy even today and continue with over 3 thousand martyrs who sacrificed their lives so that today we can live free from the legendary commander, Adem Jashar and the Jashar family. Of course, the sacrifice for our country has been enormous over 13 thousand civilians, of whom about 20 thousand and more children survive sex violence during the war, over 130 thousand houses destroyed many cultural monuments and over a thousand missing people are still in the open wounds of our Republic, and our freedom will be complete on the day when there will be justice for all victims, and on the day when our last citizen will return to our Republic to his country, their families. On this day of course, we also celebrate the achievements of the Republic of Kosovo because our country is obviously finished work, and on February 17, 2008, our destiny is once and for all defined as an independent and sovereign state, and in these challenges we have to stay united because our history has proved every time that only when we are united and united about the goal of making Kosovo a successful state that masters its own citizens, the state with which all young and old are then truly able to succeed”, said President Osmani.

Kosovo Parliament Speaker Glauk Konjufca, on the other hand, wished citizens for the 14th birthday of Kosovo's independence, said the state of Kosovo would stay high and steadfast forever.

The very fact that we are starting this day with the raising of the flag of our state is a symbol that shows that our country will stay high and steadfast forever, along with all of us, we will mark this important day of our state with much activity as this important day deserves. Therefore, I take the opportunity for all Kosovo citizens to wish you the Independence Day“, he said.

The prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, along with the congratulations for Kosovo citizens for the 14th anniversary of independence, has also commemorated all those who fought for the country's freedom and independence.

He said those who worked and fought have left unscathed traces for today and Kosovo's future.

There is no way to remember and remind those who worked and fought for the freedom of the people and the independence of the country. So from the capital of the Republic here in the Joint Court of the Presidency, Parliament and Government where we paid homage and raised the state flag, we will continue for the chief uprising of our people in Prekaz, that is, at the “Adam Jashari” complex and then at the President's tomb, Ibrahim Rugova and the event, Ademi Demaci. All those who worked and fought have left unscathed traces of our present and our future so we are grateful to all of us for life“, Kurti said.

Kosovo's Declaration of Independence was made on February 17th 2008 at 15:39 in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo. At an extraordinary meeting attended by 109 deputies from a total of 120, the Kosovo Assembly unanimously declared Kosovo independent, sovereign and democratic state.

Kosovo's declaration of independence and its declaration of independence was made by then Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, while the president was at the time, Fatmir Sejdiu.
