Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, in an interview for“Arab News”, headquartered in Saudi Arabia, has addressed with a message Muslim countries to recognise Kosovo, saying their current position is wrong and suits Serbia with or without purpose.
The prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo says such an attitude of these states towards Kosovo comes as a result of Serbian dezinforms, and that some states continue to maintain close ties with Russia.
“We think it's a huge mistake that some predominantly Muslim countries of the population do not recognise Kosovo. I think they're disinformed by Serbia. And some of them do that because they continue to maintain close ties with the Russian Federation”, Kurti said.
He has now called on these countries to recognise the independence of the Republic of Kosovo, for the sake of establishing peace and a long-term security.
However, I would ask all countries in the world for the sake of long-term peace, lasting security and recognition of the people's rights for freedom and self-rule, to recognise Kosovo's independence”, the prime minister has added further.
He has now said that, in a way, states that do not recognise Kosovo's independence “, or without purpose, fall prey to support for Serbia since the militia that has committed genocide in Kosovo”
Kurti has also spoken of Kosovo's decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel after Washington's agreement brought Kosovo one of the most important recognitions of independence.
Kurti has said such a decision does not involve any kind of revenge for Palestine's stance not to recognise the independence of the Republic of Kosovo.
It has nothing to do with our stand for the people of Palestine and their” cause, Kurti said.
“We want to have good reports with Palestine, with the authority of Palestine and also with the people of Palestine”, has added further.
The prime minister for “Arab News” has also spoken of the affairs of the Government of Kosovo as regards fighting organised crime and corruption, economic development, creating new jobs and other issues.
Speaking of dialogue with Serbia, Kurti has said this issue could not be his top priority.
“We don't want to neglect dialogue with Serbia, but I can't have it as the number one “priority, Kurti said of the Arab media.
I've said since the beginning of this government, that jobs, justice and pandemic COVID-19 are our top three priorities. Number four could be the dialog”, Kurt said away.
The head of the Kosovo government now has said the current talks are for the status of reports between Kosovo and Serbia, and that resolving this dialogue is mutual recognition.
This dialogue with Serbia, which we are approaching more constructive and creatively with different proposals, is a dialogue about the status of reports between Kosovo and Serbia. Kosovo and Serbia do not recognise each other, so the solution is mutual recognition”, Kurti has said.
As writes “Arab News”, Kurti has also talked about the possibility of resurrecting plans to sue Serbia for genocide in an international court until they have recalled Kosovo's decision not to allow the organisation of Serbia's referendum in Kosovo, even in spite of international calls.
The head of the Kosovo government in this interview has also spoken of events between Russia and Ukraine. Kurti has said Kosovo is carefully observing what is happening there, and adds that in the event of an outbreak of a Russia-Ukraine war, Serbia could become more aggressive.
We are very carefully following the situation. We're not scared” Kurt said away.
Speaking about the security issue, Kurti has also mentioned NATO forces that are in Kosovo. He has said he believes NATO, and in particular American troops are in Kosovo to stay, however, as writes “Arab News”, Kurti has stressed that if Kosovars rely on the wall, they are willing to defend themselves.
I think that Kosovo has wonderful people with great desire and courage, on one side, and on the other, I think our defence and security forces, and NATO, especially the US, are here to stay”, Kurti has said.
And we are certain that we will be victorious in any future crisis that may occur, but which we do not want to have”, the prime minister has added further.
Kurti has also expressed his confidence in Kosovo's path towards NATO membership. The head of the Kosovo government has said it is likely that Kosovo will become a full member of NATO rather than join the European Union.
I believe this is the case for two reasons. First, in the EU we have five non-recognising states from 27, until in NATO we have four non-recognising states out of 30. So a less non-recognizing in NATO than in the EU”, Kurti has said.
Vetevendosje Movement leader as he explained this, has said that even conditions for NATO membership are slightly simpler than conditions for membership in the European Union.
But in addition, the criteria and standards you must meet to join NATO are not as complex as they are for joining the EU. So it is realistic to expect first to join NATO and then with the EU.”, Kurti has said.
