The IPK says the trend of complaints against police officials are on the rise and, according to them, there are some reasons why this happened.
This is happening because of the credibility citizens have for Kosovo Police Inspectorate, but also because of the many commitments police officials have in combating criminality as well as in implementing undefence measures”, it declared. RTV Dukagjin IPK spokesman Arber Beka.
Only during last year The IPK has received 2013 complaints.
This number, according to the Kosovo Institute for Justice, is disturbing.
The “is disturbing when police officials who under the Constitution would have to take care of public order in Kosovo, engage in criminal activities and violate citizens' rights”, Ehat Miftaraj said.
He says it is not only a prosecution against police officers, but it also needs training about their responsibilities.
The IPK has arrested 34 police officials and made 85 recommendations for suspension over the past year.
