February 22 again protest against the cost of electricity

The organisational protest group “Asnji centire more” has announced that a protest will be held in the face of expensive electricity bills. Protest, reports the group, will take place on February 22nd, Tuesday. Such was made known by the protest group itself through a media communique, [...]

One such thing was disclosed by the protest group itself through a communique for the media, saying that “prothesta remains the only street” for rejecting the ZRR's decision.

This decision, which only has lower economic levels to end, will not be tolerated. Enraged/anxious with this extortionist decision, we will continue our opposition. Under these conditions, the protest remains the only way to prevent the burden the Government of Kosovo from charging us through the ZRE and KEDS”, the report said.

The protest will start from the “Zahir Pajaziti” square and end at the Government object, according to the announcement.

Full announcement:

Dear citizens of Kosovo,

You are invited to participate in the Kosovo anti-expensive electricity protest on February 22nd, 2022, Tuesday, from 12:00 in Pristina.

On February 9th 2022, with ZRE's decision to establish the tariff block, the electricity price has multiplied. If a family economy has spent over 800 kWh of electricity, the price of electricity will rise from 40% to 130%. Part of this growth we will pay directly through the regular bill and the rest we will pay through our public money. This is after the government has decided that 90m euros of ours go to KED through subsidy. In all forms, we are paying for KESCO's KEDS to continue to increase profits even in times of crisis.

The decision made by the ZRE suits only the private sector, which continues to enrich itself despite crises. All this on our backs. According to the proposal, the price of energy for businesses does not rise at all. This suggests that an average family in Kosovo with a goal of living or even survival also pays for businesses with profit circulation.

KEDS does not have 17m euros in profits per year, but has made ZRE and the Government of Kosovo more than this year to multiply profits. All of this from the budget, also crushed, the citizens of Kosovo.

This decision, which has only reduced economic rates, will not be tolerated. Enraged/anxious with this extortionist decision, we will continue our opposition. Under these conditions, the protest remains the only way to prevent the burden the Government of Kosovo from charging us through ZRE and KEDS.

So we invite you on Tuesday, starting at 12: 00 p.m., to get together and to reject this next injustice against us. Protest starts at “Zahir Square

Pajaziti” and ends up at the Government building and has two main demands:

1. Canceling ZRE's decision to set the fee block;

2. KED Nationalization

Get out and protest!
