Blinken yesterday justified the removal of most of the staff from the embassy in Kiev because according to him, the danger of Russian military action in Ukraine was too high.
Last Friday, President Joe Biden asked American citizens to leave Ukraine. This expelled key embassy personnel who remained stationed in Kiev.
According to Blinken, such a decision was made due to security concerns.
Blinken said Washington will continue working on a diplomatic solution to tensions between Moscow and Kiev.
Embassy personnel moved temporarily to Lviv, which is about 50 miles [80 km] from Ukraine's western border near Poland.
