German newspaper journalist Frankfurter Allgemen Zeitung has published several confidential reports of Germany's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, namely, Germany's embassy in Belgrade in the 1990s when the breakup of Yugoslavia began.
The report describes President Ibrahim Rugova's meeting with three European diplomats in Pristina in December 1991, the newspaper Express reports.
According to the report, Rugova told diplomats: “if Yugoslavia continues to exist, Kosovo must become an equal republic. If the Yugoslav internal borders are changed according to ethnic principles, it (Kosovo) wants union with parts of Montenegro and Macedonia that are inhabited by Albanians. If Yugoslavia is fully disbanded, Rugova demanded independent subx1-states (all) Albanian. According to the German diplomat's report, Rugova had no substantial objection to the division of northern Kosovo and Serbia. On the issue of Kosovo's possible partition, he (Rugova) showed flexible, but stressed that only one municipality (Leposaviqi) had a Serb majority.”, it is said in part of the report that German journalist has published.
