“The situation is as serious as even the middle companies from various sectors that have invested heavily in their location should think about their shift abroad”, DUI President Siegfried Russourm announced today.
A recent poll by DUI, which included over 400 middle businesses, showed that 65% of them see rising energy prices as a major challenge and 23% as a problem that threatened their entire business.
About 84% of companies said the government should review a planned increase in CO2 prices and meet it with accompanying measures to ease company's financial burden.
Russwurm said increasing energy costs is the largest since the 1970s oil crisis.
Quick political action is required. The German government should finally reassess national taxes and tariffs, such as electricity taxes and network tariffs”, he said.
