Memories of early spring of the first three decades bring the outcry of thousands of Albanian students.

Serbs had poisoned innocent youths in many Kosovo schools.

But the Yugoslav state never accepted this, saying it was insinuated and prepared action. Doctors and professors bring confessions about Kosova Prees, about what happened in March 1990, where about 8 thousand people with toxic poison were poisoned.

The same had presented facts in the face of Serbs, insisting that mass poisoning was being involved.

The used poison had a strong effect on the organism, causing a shock of muscles, vomiting, alivation, emotional disorder, and many other consequences.

Xhafer Murtezaj, then professor of physics Education at Sculter School, recalls the students ' screams in each school class.

The 75-year-old tells of Kosova Prees the horror experienced at the same time.

“As soon as there was a scream in one classroom, four-five girls, heard in the other. There was a panic among the students too. Then there was a great concern among the people. There were no hospital supplies in Skenderaj that time there were no more than two-three cars. Those citizens who had cars even up to the hospital have been carrying them, or there have been cases they carried to the Kosovo Medical Centre. It was a very heavy”, Murtezaj relates.

Blood - drawn samples were hard to prove. Even in hospital leadership there were Serbs who prevented the truth from shining. The very power then worked hard to prevent the truth of this crime from being understood.

I took the blood of some patients, not all patients. And since tests have not been possible to be conducted at the Biochemistry Institute that was two stories higher, because the director was Serb. I've been working with the chief of the biochemical lab in Obilic to watch the samples and work at night while he was in charge. These results have shown that more than 70 percent of the accepted patients have not had the value of calcium, which, as such, is enough to cause hypercalcim correction”, points out Nashet Rizvanolli, who was then working at the Nuclear Unit in Pristina.

In the crowded floors of the clinic in the capital, corridors were also being exploited for treatment of children who were barely even lying down.

All those patients have come with symptoms of inflammatoryness, which have been typical of a hypocationalization situation, which causes muscle shock. The treatment is made according to symptoms... Most students have had to be treated with calcium for hours, indicating that they have had a hypercalcation, not caused by anxiety, but by some agency that has reached the organism, via respiratory roads”, he says.

“Kosovo, testing medical conscience”, was the title of the symposium held on September 2, 1990. This was not well received by Belgrade, since the same shed some light on the truth of poisoning in Kosovo. Experts from many countries were participants, including former President Ibrahim Rugova.

I put these data into the poisoning symposium, which was held in Zagreb, and I remember the reaction of the professor from Belgrade, who was a neuropsychiatricist because the Serb thesis at the time was that these were panic attacks, so even the representative they sent was neuropsychiat, not some expert on poisoning”, follows Rizvanol.

This was more than war”, says the then director of Blood Transfusion, Mazum Beleg.

There was no more pain than seeing those manifestations of child poisoning. All that happens in children, adults are more stable, adults face it. But to see the children tremble, unable to stand on their feet, nor to talk anything. I remember a sentence someone said was this war? I said, "No, this isn't war, this is more than war." Children become like that, I don't know what spirit and what heart they had”, Beleg tells Kosovo Press.

Some 80,000 students and adults were poisoned in Kosovo during 1990. This preceded events that later took place in demonstrations for Albanian rights and later even in the struggle for Kosovo's release from the Serbian occupant.
