Images are in line with recently posted videos on social networks showing Russian forces moving to Belarus and creating camps 20 miles from Ukrainian border. Some of the images show the Lunites Airport of Belarus, where Russian warplanes, dubbed Union Resolve 2022, Russian S-400 air defence systems and Su-25 aircraft, are located.
Military experts believe the accumulate of Russian forces near the Ukrainian border now appears to be entering a new phase -- in a closer attack.
In videos posted on social networks, a part of the Russian weapons system is seen moving near the Brynsk region, bordering Ukraine. According to CNN, Russian forces are also moving to the Kursk region, located 60 miles [100 km] from the Ukrainian border. Artillery in the Moscow region is now very close to the Ukrainian border, covering a distance of 400km.
“We believe there is an opportunity for Vladimir Putin to order an attack on Ukraine.
This attack could be in different forms. It could happen tomorrow or within weeks”, said US National Security adviser Jake Sullivan.
Also, according to a previous statement by US officials, Russia had already collected 70% of the troops needed to invade Ukraine.
Also, according to images, Russian forces are seen located at a distance from where the exercises are planned, including in Rechitsa, a Belarusn city about 170 miles east of Lounnets, near the place where Russia's borders, Belarus and Ukraine meet.
The forces deployed there include tanks and infantry vehicles. Massive troop collection has caused alarm in American and European leaders. Secretary - General NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, said on Thursday that Moscow's defeat in Belarus is the largest since the Cold War.
A European diplomat called the gathering of forces a “major concern”, noting that this would be the missing Moscow to launch a quick attack on the Ukrainian capital, which is less than two hours from the Belarus border. /abcbnews. al
