A large number of firemen have engaged in firing stations that threatened dozens of other homes. Authorities have announced that the fire started in the early hours of the morning.
Southern California is at the peak of the winter heat wave, driven by drought and hot air. Some American state neighborhoods have been ordered to evacuate, and so have schools.
Firefighters have said that the fire in some parts of California was up to four acres [4 ha]. Helicopters have thrown water, while fire - extinguishing vehicles are located near neighbourhoods that are threatened by major fires.
