The situation in Bosnia is more disturbing than ever,” said Josep Borrell, the EU's high representative for foreign policy, at the annual security conference in Munich.
Last month, the administration of President Biden announced new sanctions against Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik, who has for years called for the Serb-led Bosnian part to be cut off from the rest of the country and join Serbia.
The US accused him of <x0-activity corruption” threatening to destabilise the region and undermine Dayton agreements.
I can assure you that, in close contact with the United States, me and Secretary of State (Anthony) Blinken have sent a very serious warning. We will not accept the dissolution of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Mr. Borrell.
He said he had been in contact with Mr. Dodik to remember his “obligation to participate in the country's new joint institutions”.
The Dayton Peace Accord ended the war in Bosnia, which killed over 100,000 people and left millions homeless in the worst massacre in Europe since World War II.
Agreement created two separate governing units in Bosnia ʹ one run by Bosnian Serbs, another dominated by Bosniaks
Mr. Dodik says he and Bosnian Serbs are being unfairly targeted by the United States and without a right to corruption. / VOA
