Blinken: We see no evidence that Russia is withdrawing its troops from the Ukrainian border

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Wednesday that the United States is not seeing evidence that Russia is withdrawing its troops from its border with Ukraine, despite Russian claims, CNN reports. “unfortunately, there is a difference between Russia and what it does. “Unfortunately, there is a difference between what Russia says and what it does. And what we're seeing is not a meaningful” attraction, Blinken said in “Good Morning America” of ABC.
Rather, we continue to see forces, especially forces that would be at the forefront of any renewed aggression against Ukraine, continuing to be at the border, gathering at the 11x1> border, he said.
Blinken reiterated that the US believes Russia can invade neighbouring Ukraine at any moment, including this week.
We said we were in a window of time when the invasion could come at any time. President Putin has established the capacity to operate in a very short notice. He can pull the trigger. He can pull it today. He can pull it tomorrow. He can pull it up next week. The forces are there if he wants to renew aggression against Ukraine”, Blinken said.
Blinken underlined that the US remains committed to trying to follow the diplomatic path to resolving this situation, but said the ball is in Russia's field.
Numerous American officials also told CNN there is no evidence to verify Russian claims of a withdrawal of its troops near the Ukrainian border.
“We have not seen any reliable, verifiable or meaningful withdrawal”, said a Biden administration official for CNN, urging reporters to be deeply skeptical of Russian official sources” who claim to show a withdrawal of forces.
A senior American official said the US “is not seeing any movement supporting that claim” from Russia.
