49-year-old assassination last year in Mitrovica, top suspect arrested

According to police announcement, the alleged 30-year-old had been declared in police search long ago, as he was arrested today in Vushtrri.

“The suspect long ago has been declared in police search as suspected of involvement in criminal activity”, located on July 10th 2021, on the “Evlia Qelebia” street in South Mitrovica, where the wounds suffered from the fire weapon have killed D. S., aged 49, while another person had been injured,”, says the police communique.

After the interview, with the prosecutor's decision of the case, the suspects have been assigned the detention measure for 48 hours.

The alleged 30-year-old man was on the run along with another person for the murder that had occurred on July 10th last year on the “Evlia Celebia” street in southern Mitrovica.

With the date of July 10, 2021, at 00:20, police in South Mitrovica have accepted the tip of firing shots on Évvalia Celebia street. Upon accepting the information, all necessary police units have emerged at the scene of the emergency event. From the first information from the site of the event is understood that as a result of gunfire, two persons were injured who were urgently sent to the Regional Hospital in Mitrovica, then sent to QKUK-Pristina. And about 2: 00 a.m., hospital authorities reported that one of the wounded, victim D. S., 49, as a result of the injuries, has died, while the other victim, J. S., 52, remains in treatment to medical further. After examinations conducted at the scene, criminal-technical investigators as material evidence found four (4) shelling and a lead shell as material evidence linking to the case”, police announcement said on July 10, 2021.

By investigations and allegations raised, police had declared in the search two suspected persons.
