Tensions in Kosovo, Mediu: Albania Must Call Security Council

Republican Party leader Fatmir Mediu during a direct communication in News24 has spoken about the situation in northern Kosovo as he said Albania should, in this case, call the Security Council in order to put institutions in motion on the issue. He declared that Serbian President Vucic today [...]
He declared that Serbian President Vucic today is seeking to impose developments in Kosovo, while added further that Serbia is using the same narrative as Russia in Ukraine. According to him Russia is seeking to create new conflict areas to draw attention from what is happening in Ukraine by trying to create conflicts in the Balkans,
Mediu added that Albania has not yet understood its role within NATO, while added that there is no co-ordinated policy turning into a prime ministerial republic of conduct that, according to him, needs to be changed.
The first thing that concerns me is whether Albania is a country that functions on the basis of institutions or not, in this situation the Security Council should be called, even though there is no function, but constitutionally it will have to happen. This meeting would put institutions in motion in the country about the situation, we're the only country. I NATO we don't have a security agency in the country. I think that we as Albania have an obligation not only for Kosovo, but for violating NATO interests. To see how the region is considered a potential case of conflict Albania must convey this concern. Albania is also seen as an important factor in the region, but how we can be without co-ordinating attitudes with other countries in the region like Croatia, Slovenia, etc. What is happening in Kosovo is an early history, it is not something new. Today Vucic seeks to impose developments in Kosovo, the Narrativa Serbia uses is the same as happened in Ukraine. Russia seeks to create new conflict areas to draw attention from what is happening in Ukraine.
Albania has not understood why it is a NATO member, has not understood the role it has within this alliance. There is no co-ordinated policy, we are a prime republic now, we need to change this attitude. We need to understand that as a small country, it's important to know where we are in local and global geopolitical. Today Russia's presence in the Balkans is everywhere, China also has its influence. Serbia is trying to expand the conflict, we are seeing not only the tendency to arm but to secede from Bosnia. The debates in Montenegro are also encouraged by Serbia. What worries me is that we expect what KFOR, the EU or the US will do, but we forget that the rest is connected to Russia and China. Not always do we have to wait, if there are barricades today, the intervention of Serbian troops could cause escalation of the conflict. We have taken our agreement with the US, but Serbia has greater influence in the region than we do. We have not made clear in front of the EU who the crime organisers occurred in Kosovo. We now have those who have committed persecution by leading politics in Serbia and those who were protected at The Hague.
Serbia has no threat, they themselves are a threatening factor. The assassination of Montenegro's president was an attack designed to stop their membership in NATO, and are direct interests of Serbia and Russia. What concerns us is the position of the Montenegrin president, who has said there is a political construction from Serbia to eliminate Kosovo and Montenegro from the map. Croatia has also raised concern over Serbia's arming, making us think Serbia is preparing to create”, he said.
